Iron the entire top sheet once the top edge is un stitched and the other 3 edges are cut off.

Lay your sheet over the top of the reverse side of your curtain fabric making sure the top and left edge are lined up perfectly with the edge of the curtain fabric.

Turn your standard curtains into blackout curtains by attaching liner to them with hemming tape.
Measure the length you d like each curtain panel to be.

The key is to be precise about your measurements so the fabric and lining hang correctly together and at your desired length.
Put your fabric print towards the lining so you can sew your first stitches.

Make sure you measure the length down to the area on your window or wall where you d like the curtains to lie.
Smooth both fabrics out removing all wrinkles and folds.

Use a tape measure starting at or just above the top of the window and measure the length and width.
Pin fabric to lining in a few places to hold them together.
Place lining on top right side facing up.
Fold the drapery fabric over the lining press the fabric seam allowance in and sew the two side seams.
Start with your fabric along with a piece of lining cut the same exact size.
Be sure to leave an 8 inch opening on one side so you can pull the draperies right side out later.
Spread fabric over floor right side facing down.
Stack it all up together and pin it all the way around then start on a corner of a long end and stitch all the way around three sides long side short side long side.
This will allow for the extra that will be eaten up as you create a hem and attach it to the lining.
